Are you a good clinical fit?
Intentionality: To have purpose & figure out a path to get there. These are things I will try to help you with to grow & find your way. Sometimes it’s about figuring out a philosophy, a state of mind, a way of looking at things differently, sometimes it’s about developing certain specific concrete skills, and sometimes it’s a little bit of both to get where you want to go. I help others get curious & build motivation for change since it’s not only knowing what to do but building the drive to take action & doing so throughout life as a lifelong learner. I believe that each of us has many of the answers within us and we just need to find them, sometimes with a little help. With ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) my approach emphasizes not avoiding the tough stuff, but figuring out how to get through it to identify and work towards one’s values and identity to be in this moment and to craft a life worth living.
My Approach
I connect with others with warmth and humor about me & I deeply care about helping people. I work to balance being ‘heady’ & thinking through problems with also learning to be more mindful and present in our bodies & in the moment. I like to help people connect the dots between different areas of their life to build a cohesive whole that has purpose. Creativity is a top value I use as we walk side by side to help you find the best path forward. I help people develop a lifestyle that works including a holistic approach that integrates lifestyle (things like sleep, nutrition, exercise, outdoor time, hobbies, routines), environment and family and to have daily habits that add up to achieving long term goals. I seek to help others to find balance in life, find a deeper self-understanding and healthier interactions with others. I strive daily to come from a place of cultural humility, with a deep respect for the things that make us different and unique & to create an emotionally safe space for all.
I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) including Mindfulness approaches as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, Attachment and family of origin therapies, mindfulness/sensory/body-based approaches. I also use Sand Tray Therapy (a type of artistic play therapy), visual and technology tools and talk therapy that is crafted creatively for each person.
It’s an honor and a privilege to help others through therapy. I don’t take it for granted and I’m grateful for the future opportunity to work with you!
